Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has delivered a crippling blow to the military infrastructure of Iran, alleging that dozens of naval vessels were destroyed and key communication systems dismantled during a recent operation.
Speaking about the alleged operation, Trump asserted that the United States had effectively neutralised Iran’s naval capabilities within days. “We’re doing very well in Iran. We’ve knocked out 42 Navy ships, some of them very large, in three days. That was the end of the Navy,” he said, describing what he portrayed as a decisive military action against Tehran’s forces.
The former US President further claimed that Iranian air power and communications infrastructure had also been crippled. “We knocked out their Air Force. We knocked out their communications, and all telecommunications is gone. I don’t know how they communicate, but I guess they will figure something out,” he said, adding that the operation had left Iran struggling to coordinate its systems.
Trump also defended the alleged strike as a pre-emptive measure against what he described as Iran’s rapidly advancing nuclear ambitions. According to him, intelligence assessments suggested that Tehran was close to acquiring a nuclear weapon.
“This had to be done. They were very close to a nuclear weapon. They would have had one if we didn’t do our B-2 hit, Midnight Hammer. They would have had it eight months ago,” he said, referring to what appeared to be a codename for the purported mission.
Trump also framed the alleged operation as an act undertaken in the interest of global security. “So we did the world a favour,” he said, insisting that the action was necessary to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear-armed state.
