20 July 2018:

The All Jiribum United Minority People’s Organisation (AJUMPO) has demanded that the “Manipur People’s Bill 2018” be modified in line with the National Register of Citizens (NRC) so that the illegal immigrants in the state could be detected.

At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sushil Namasudhra, the AJUMPO discussed the Bill to protect the interests of bonafide citizens of India.

The AJUMPO lamented that the Bill’s drafting committee had not taken any stakeholders from the minority communities of Jiribam even after the submission of a request letter to the authorities concerned. It warned that if the bill hurts the sentiments of any minority group from Jiribum, then the state government will be held solely responsible for any eventualities.

The AJUMPO appealed to the people of Jiribam to stand united for any possible act of oppression against any community of Jiribam.
