Manipur Police rescue two Assam men, arrest three KCP (PWG) cadres in separate operations

Manipur Police rescued two Assam men allegedly held over a financial dispute and, in a separate operation, arrested three KCP (PWG) cadres on extortion charges. The operations covered Senapati, Ukhrul, Imphal East and Imphal West, and police said further investigation is underway.

    Manipur Police rescued two men from Assam who were allegedly being held as collateral over a financial dispute and arrested three alleged extortionists linked to the KCP (PWG) in separate operations carried out across the state.

    The rescue operation was launched after Titabar Police Station in Assam reported that an individual had been unlawfully confined at Khamsom in Senapati district in connection with a financial transaction.

    Acting on the information, Manipur Police traced and rescued two victims from Changta village under Lungchon Maiphai Police Station in Ukhrul district on July 3.

    The rescued men were identified as Kasob Kachari (29) and Ajay Gogoi (33), both residents of Assam.

    In a separate operation on July 4, Manipur Police arrested three active cadres of the KCP (PWG) from different locations in Imphal East and Imphal West districts on charges of extortion.

    The arrested individuals were identified as Ningombam Ajitkumar Singh alias Abung alias Khagemba (46) of Singjamei Makha Khongnang Pheidekpi in Imphal West, Laishram Surjit Meitei alias Kadamba (43) of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai in Imphal East, and Laishram Birjit Singh alias Khuman (35) of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai in Imphal West.

    Police said a Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number MN-01AL-4757, along with other miscellaneous items, was seized during the operation. Further investigation is underway.
