Manipur: Suspected militants attack farmers at Naga village in Kangpokpi, one killed, three injured

Suspected armed militants opened fire on farmers in a paddy field at Langka Naga village on Friday morning. The attack killed one Naga civilian, injured three others and has raised fresh concern among villagers.

    A Naga civilian was killed, and three others were injured after suspected armed militants opened fire on farmers working in a paddy field at Langka Naga village in Manipur on Friday morning.

    According to sources, the attack took place at around 7.30 am when farmers were engaged in agricultural activities. More than 40 armed militants, reportedly carrying sophisticated weapons, allegedly attacked the farmers.

    W Chawang, 34, sustained gunshot wounds and died at the spot.

    Three others — Kawidinang Abonmai, 55, Maliangjinang Abonmai, 52, and Namthiulungbou Prinmai, 50 — were injured in the firing. Abonmai and Abonmai are reported to have sustained severe injuries.

    The attack has triggered fresh concern among villagers, with security forces expected to assess the situation and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
