Imphal, Manipur, 2018:

The Issac-Muivah faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) has derecognised three apex Zeliangrong organisations – Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), and All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) – with immediate effect.

In a press statement, the militant outfit decreed that these bodies will “not represent the voice of the Zeliangrong people any longer”.

The NSCN-IM cited challenging Yaruiwo’s order of 2011, demand for separate homeland for the Zeliangrong people in collaboration with the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and challenging Tatar Hoho’s decision of 23rd March 2018 that approved recognition of three Naga tribes as separate tribes, viz., Zeme, Liangmai, and Rongmei as the reasons behind its latest move.

The outfit further refuted the allegations of threat to the lives of leaders of the three organisations and attempt to break the unity of the Zeliangrong community levelled by the Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) before the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and the media as “totally baseless, unwarranted & devoid of any truth.”
