Prohibitory orders imposed near Manipur varsity

District Magistrate Naorem Praveen Singh has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in and around Manipur University, Canchipur, prohibiting any form of rallies or processions, except that of the customary or religious practices, with effect from Friday.

Singh said the order has been imposed anticipating unrest due to the ongoing agitation in Manipur University at the behest of Manipur University Students Union, Manipur University Teachers’ Association and Manipur University Staff Association.
