The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) will organise a public convention on May 3 at 11:30 am, marking two years since the outbreak of conflict in Manipur.
During a press conference at COCOMI headquarters, convenor Khuraijam Athouba expressed frustration over the Indian government's inability to resolve the ongoing crisis despite its two-year duration. The convention aims to adopt key resolutions that organisers believe could help end the conflict.
"This gathering at Khuman Lampak will bring together scholars, community leaders, and civil society organisations to address crucial issues that will be presented to the government of India," Athouba said.
COCOMI has called for widespread participation, requesting that citizens suspend their regular activities on May 3 to attend the convention. For the past month, the organisation has been engaging various sectors of society to discuss potential solutions to the unrest.
Preparations for the convention have been completed as the state approaches the anniversary of the May 3 incident that sparked the prolonged conflict.
