Fresh violence was reported from the border areas of Kamjong district in the early hours of May 7 after suspected militants allegedly carried out coordinated attacks on villages near the Myanmar border.
According to sources, the attacks took place around 2 am at Namlee Market and Choro village in Kamjong district. The assault is suspected to have been carried out by the KNA-B using drones, raising renewed concerns over the use of advanced tactics in the conflict-hit hill areas of Manipur.
Sources said several houses were set ablaze during the attack, though no casualties had been officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.
Security agencies are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, while further details regarding the extent of damage and the identity of those involved are still awaited.
The latest incident comes amid continuing tensions in Manipur’s sensitive border districts, where sporadic attacks and armed clashes have repeatedly been reported over the past several months.
