Security was tightened in and around Taphou in Manipur’s Senapati district on August 25, a day after violence and gunfire were reported in the area.
As part of a combing operation, the CRPF’s CoBRA unit, accompanied by district police personnel, conducted house-to-house searches in Taphou Liangmai, adjoining areas and Taphou Kuki during the early hours of Tuesday.
Security personnel searched individual houses and surrounding areas as part of the operation. Female CRPF personnel conducted searches inside rooms, while male personnel checked the exterior and adjoining areas.
Officials said the searches were conducted without resistance from residents or house owners. No arrests or detentions were reported during the operation.
The security operation came a day after a CRPF personnel sustained a bullet-like injury to his foot during an exchange of fire amid heightened tension in the Taphou area.
No fresh incident of violence was reported in Taphou on August 25. However, security forces continued to maintain a heavy presence in the area to prevent further escalation and maintain peace.
The latest security measures follow heightened tensions after houses belonging to members of different communities were reportedly set on fire on August 24 triggering an exchange of fire between armed groups.
