A team of senior officials from the Home Department, Police, and Relief & Disaster Management on Saturday conducted an aerial inspection of flood-affected areas in Imphal East district, as Manipur continues to grapple with heavy rains and widespread inundation.
The inspection, carried out via helicopter, provided the team with a comprehensive overview of the most impacted zones. This initiative forms part of the state government's round-the-clock response to mitigate the damage caused by persistent rainfall and flooding since May 28, triggered by a depression over northern Bangladesh and adjoining Meghalaya.
The aerial survey enabled authorities to assess the extent of damage, identify the most urgent needs of the affected population, and coordinate relief operations accordingly. Officials confirmed that essential services—such as water supply, sanitation, healthcare, and emergency shelter—are being prioritized to support those displaced or impacted.
Deputy Commissioners across all districts have been instructed to remain alert, initiate timely evacuation and relief measures, and clear landslide debris wherever necessary.
