Manipur: GUNCHU celebrates 4 years of excellence, over 100 Central service achievers honoured

In a moving celebration of perseverance and excellence, GUNCHU Institute for Competitive Examinations commemorated its 4th Foundation Day-cum-Thanksgiving Program at LNC Hall, Kangpokpi, marking four years of transformative growth and academic distinction.
Founded in 2021 in Imphal, the institute has rapidly risen to prominence as one of the region’s leading centers for civil service and competitive exam preparation. Following the May 3, 2023 conflict, GUNCHU was relocated to Kangpokpi District Headquarters, where it has continued to thrive with renewed purpose and resilience.
In just four years since its inception, GUNCHU has produced over 100 successful candidates who have qualified for various central competitive examinations, securing positions in India’s central services. This milestone underscores the institute’s growing reputation for academic rigor, mentorship, and success-oriented training.
The celebration was graced by Rev. K. Hangsing, Chairman of the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF), as Minister of the Day, while SL. Kamkhohao, MPS, Addl. SP (L&O), Kangpokpi, represented Abhinav, IPS, SP Kangpokpi, as Chief Guest.
Other dignitaries included N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, ADM Kangpokpi, and Laminmilan Simte, MCS, SDO Champhai as Guests of Honour, along with Doujapao Haokip, MCS, CEO, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi, serving as Functional President.
The event commenced with a special musical performance by Sarah Haokip, an opening prayer by Joycy, and a welcome address by Dr. Thangboi, who reflected on GUNCHU’s inspiring journey from Imphal to Kangpokpi.
A cake-cutting and blessing prayer led by the Minister symbolized gratitude for the institute’s continued growth amidst challenges.
Founder Dr. Thangboi presented a detailed overview of GUNCHU’s achievements, academic methodologies, and vision for the future. The dignitaries, in their addresses, commended the institute for its commitment to empowering youth and fostering excellence in public service training.
The ceremony also featured cultural and artistic performances by Tingngaiching Kipgen, Lamgougin Vaiphei, and a dance performance by Anjali and Rahul, infusing the event with vibrancy and youthful spirit.
Representatives from several organizations, including KSO-GHQ, KSO Sadar Hills, CoTU, KTC, KWWO, KWU, KYU, ZILLAI, TAYA, KYA, and GSO, attended the program, symbolizing unity and community support for the institute’s educational mission.
Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Boboi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the guests and well-wishers, while the closing prayer by the Minister brought the event to a solemn conclusion.
As GUNCHU celebrates its fourth year, its journey from Imphal to Kangpokpi stands as a powerful narrative of perseverance, purpose, and progress. With over 100 central service achievers to its credit, the institute continues to inspire hope, opportunity, and excellence among aspiring youths across the region — proving that education, guided by determination, can indeed triumph over adversity.
