Women vendors at Manipur's Ima Market demand government support after floods.
The flooding of surrounding areas and the godown of Manipur's iconic Ima Market has led to significant damage, prompting women vendors to seek government assistance.
Asem Nirmala, secretary of Lukmai Sellup, a women's market vendors' association, stated that lakhs of property have been damaged due to the flood.
Many items stored in the market's godown have been submerged, leaving many women vendors helpless.
The resumption of economic activities will take longer as most market areas have been inundated. Nirmala urged the government for support, noting that women vendors are often the primary earners for their families.
