‘Naga-Kuki conflict still increasing’: Congress raises Manipur crisis With Rahul Gandhi

Manipur Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh on September 21 said he met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and briefed him on the prevailing situation in Manipur, including tensions between the Naga and Kuki communities and the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities.

Speaking in Delhi, Meghachandra said the two leaders discussed the need to restore normalcy in the state.

“Today, I met Rahul Gandhi and apprised him of the present situation in Manipur, including the situation between the Nagas and Kukis, as well as the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities,” he said.

He alleged that there was no clear roadmap for restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur and claimed that tensions between the Naga and Kuki communities were continuing to increase.

Meghachandra also criticised the state government led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, alleging that it was not taking adequate measures to restore normalcy.

“The new government, led by Minister Khemchand Singh, is also not taking any serious measures to bring back normalcy in the state,” he said.

The Congress leader further alleged that development programmes in the state had “completely collapsed”.

His remarks come amid continuing tensions and violence between different communities in Manipur, with security and restoration of normalcy remaining key challenges for the state government.
