Outrage in Manipur as Khurai Lamlong residents protest Tronglaobi bomb attack that killed 2 children

Protests broke out in Khurai Lamlong area of Imphal East district on Wednesday, April 8, following a deadly bomb attack in Tronglaobi village of Manipur’s Bishnupur district that left two children dead.
The incident has sparked widespread anger and grief among residents, prompting protests in Khurai Lamlong, where demonstrators took to the streets condemning the attack and demanding immediate action against those responsible. Protesters also called for enhanced security measures to prevent further such incidents.
According to reports, the explosion occurred in Tronglaobi and claimed the lives of a five-year-old boy and his five-month-old sister on April 7. Authorities suspect the involvement of Kuki militant elements, though an official confirmation is awaited as investigations continue.
As tensions escalated in the area, security forces intervened to control the situation and fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. No major injuries were immediately reported during the crowd control measures.
