Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on May 23 welcomed Genal R. Marak at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport after he was safely rescued following a traumatic experience in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharing the update, the Meghalaya Chief Minister described the meeting at the airport as an emotional moment and reiterated that the safety and well-being of every citizen of Meghalaya would always remain a top priority for the government.
According to Sangma, swift action was initiated after a distress call was received through the 1971 CM CONNECT helpline, which helped ensure Genal Marak’s safe return home to reunite with his family.
The Chief Minister said the 1971 CM CONNECT helpline has emerged as an important support system for residents of Meghalaya by providing timely assistance and intervention during emergencies.
Sangma also appreciated the response team involved in the rescue effort and congratulated the officials of the helpline for their prompt and decisive action.
