Meghalaya inaugurates glamping project in South Garo Hills; Rs 93 lakh sanctioned

The Meghalaya government has launched the Chitmang Chaiwat Nature-Based Glamping Project at Badri Rongdong in South Garo Hills, with an additional Rs 93 lakh sanctioned for its further development. 

Spread across 21+ hectares, the eco-tourism initiative showcases Garo-style cabins and eco-friendly domes, aiming to create local jobs, promote conservation, and position the region as a sustainable tourism hotspot.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who inaugurated the project, praised the collaborative efforts of the local community and the Soil & Water Conservation Department. 

He also formally handed over the Rs 93 lakh grant to the Chitmang Chaiwat Management Committee. Sangma highlighted the project as a model for integrating nature, culture, and livelihoods through community-driven growth.
