Mizoram: Assam Rifles & Mizoram Police recover arms in a joint operation

In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), on Monday recovered arms in Mizoram.

AIZAWL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), on Monday recovered arms in Mizoram.

The arms were recovered during a joint operation carried out by teams of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police based on specific information on Monday.

During the operation, one 303 Rifle, one Mag and 40 Live Rds were recovered at gen area A Electric Veng, Lungsir, Mamit.

The operation was based on confirmed intelligence inputs about the war like stores.

Swift and bold action of Security Forces resulted in apprehension of one individual who was later handed over to the Mamit Police Station.

The ongoing smuggling of illegal goods is a matter of serious concern for Mizoram.

Christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’, Assam Rifles have been successful in launching operations against the smuggling activities in the state.
