The call for permanent peace in Manipur resonated in Aizawl on November 9 as Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizo Student's Association) organized a demonstration in front of Vanapa Hall. The event organized by the North East Students' Organization (NESO), brought together various student organizations from the region in a joint effort to demand peace and resolution in Manipur.
The North East Students' Organization (NESO) Executive Council Meeting, convened on November 9 reached a unanimous decision that all NESO-affiliated student organizations would unite for a demonstration to advocate for peace in Manipur. The event was chaired by Pu C. Lalremruata, Vice President of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), and it saw a massive turnout of students, activists, and concerned citizens.
In his speech, MZP President Pu H. Lalthianghlima highlighted the persisting internal conflict in Manipur, urging the central government to take prompt action in resolving the issue. He stated, "Manipur's internal conflict has not improved so far, and we demand that the central government intervenes to bring an end to this long-standing problem."
Pu H. Lalthianghlima didn't stop there; he voiced the collective sentiment, stating, "The Prime Minister of India himself should go to the scene and take action to resolve the issue. The time for change is now, and Manipur deserves lasting peace."
Backing this call for action, Pu Ricky Lalbiakmawia, NESO Vice Chairman, expressed his deep concern and criticized the Central Government's perceived inaction in addressing the Manipur conflict. NESO's eight student organizations, namely the Khasi Students Union (KSU), All Assam Students Union (AASU), Naga Students Federation (NSF), Mizo Students Federation (MZP), Twipra Students Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Garo Students' Union (GSU), and All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU), joined hands in solidarity to demand lasting peace and justice in Manipur.
