Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii, chaired a meeting with officials of the health department to review the situation of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in India and Mizoram.
Under the chairmanship of the health minister, a core committee on HMPV has been established; with Rapid Response Team at the state level and at all districts across the state.
The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) has also issued notices to the public stating that hMPV is a respiratory disease which has also occurred in the past years across the globe; and that IDSP is constantly tracking it and there have been no recent reports of Influenza like illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) in Mizoram.
The public has also been informed that there is no need for panic as the health department and Surveillance network are constantly monitoring the situation, with all government and private hospitals given orders to give daily reports on all Influenza like illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) related cases.
Furthermore, the health department has reported that Pneumonia control programme/ SAANS campaign is currently taken up across all the districts of the state; and has requested the cooperation of the public and all health officials for its successful implementation.
The department has also requested the public to report any suspected cases of Influenza like illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) to the nearest hospitals and Sub-centre/Health and Wellness Center.
