The Salvation Army Corps bands marked Easter morning across Mizoram by playing the hymn "Up from the grave He arose", signalling the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The public performances were part of a wider Christian observance that began at daybreak.
Congregations across denominations took part in traditional Sunrise Services, featuring gospel readings and hymns. The services, held in open spaces and church premises, drew early morning gatherings to mark the central event of the Christian faith.
Catholic churches had initiated Easter observances a day earlier with the Easter Vigil on Saturday night. The liturgy, which included the blessing of a new fire and the proclamation of the Resurrection, transitioned into full Easter celebrations by morning.
Churches throughout the state remained active throughout the day with choir performances and gospel sermons. Many congregations also organised Easter lunches with egg-themed decorations, while floral tributes were placed in remembrance of departed members.
Evening and night services are scheduled to continue, concluding with hymn sessions by members of each congregation.
