Mumbai, June 11, 2019:

A pro-Pakistan Turkish hacker group, Ayyildiz Tim hacked Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s Twitter account on Monday night.

Those behind the cyber-attack changed his profile photo, cover photo and Twitter bio.

The group also changed Bachchan’s profile picture and replaced it with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s photo. Several messages were tweeted from his account, including an anti-India post. Bachchan’s account was restored later.

The group posted two different tweets tagging the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan along with his photo, saying “Love Pakistan”. The tweets were accompanied with emojis of Pakistan and Turkey’s flags.

At first glance, it seemed one or more Turkish groups were involved in the cyber crime.

Another tweet posted by the hackers from Mr Bachchan's account called to “condemn the behaviours of Iceland republic towards Turkish footballers”.

According to media reports, the cyber unit of Mumbai Police was informed about the hack and investigation is on to bring the culprits to justice.

Amitabh Bachchan has over 37 million followers on his Twitter account and is one of the most popular Bollywood stars on the micro-blogging platform.

It may be mentioned that hacking is a common phenomenon on Twitter and many high-profile celebrities have found their accounts hacked at one point of time or the other. It may be mentioned that the same group had earlier hacked the accounts of actors Shahid Kapoor and Anupam Kher.
