Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq summoned to New Delhi amid Srinagar protests

Srinagar, March 10, 2019:

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday summoned Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to its headquarters in New Delhi.

Mirwaiz has been asked to present himself before the investigators at its New Delhi head office on Monday, February 11.

Pertinently, on 26 Feb last month, the NIA raided Mirwaiz’s residence at Nigeen and searched the premises for over six hours.

Mirwaiz along with octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF chairperson Yasin Malik comprise of the Joint Resistance Leadership.

Meanwhile, a trade body of Srinagar downtown Shahre Khaas coordination committee has called for a shutdown tomorrow against NIA summon to Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Tension & clashes erupted in downtown Srinagar after news flashed of NIA booking Mirwaiz Umar for waging war against the country and his connection to the terror funding case.
