Guwahati (Assam) 4 August 2018

The supporters of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP clashed in West Bengal’s Malda during a rally on Saturday.

The rally was taken out by TMC workers and supporters as part the party’s observation of “black day” in protest against the alleged assault and detention of its MPs and MLAs by the police at the Kumbhirgram airport in Assam’s Silchar. During the rally, the protestors burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi much to the chagrin of BJP supporters.

The TMC delegation of the lawmakers had come to Silchar on Thursday to attend a convention and meet some people who were “affected” by the updation of complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
