A massive fire broke out at the Advanced Eye Centre of the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh on October 16. This incident marks the second such occurrence in just a week.
Earlier, on October 9, a major fire erupted in the 60-year-old Nehru Hospital's basement, necessitating the evacuation of 424 patients, including pregnant women, newborns, and critically ill patients.
The recent fire at the Advanced Eye Centre, attributed to a short circuit, occurred in the electrical department's office at around 9 a.m. and was successfully brought under control.
These back-to-back incidents are a cause for concern, prompting authorities to investigate safety measures and protocols at PGIMER.
