Sikkim CM, Governor inspect newly built Helen Lepcha Government Medical College ahead of inaugural academic session

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang joined Governor Om Prakash Mathur to inspect the newly constructed Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College ahead of the commencement of its inaugural academic session.

The visit marked an important step in preparations to welcome the first batch of students at the newly established medical institution, reflecting the state government’s focus on expanding medical education and strengthening healthcare infrastructure within Sikkim.

During the visit, the bust of Helen Lepcha and the official logo of the medical college were also unveiled, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey.

The unveiling of the bust paid tribute to the legacy of Helen Lepcha, while the launch of the college logo symbolically marked the beginning of a new chapter in Sikkim’s medical education sector.

With the institution nearing operational readiness, the medical college is expected to create opportunities for students to pursue medical education within the state while contributing to the development of Sikkim’s healthcare infrastructure and local medical workforce.
