After tireless efforts and countless appeals to operators across the country, a breakthrough has been achieved on October 6 in the quest to secure a helicopter for vital rescue, evacuation, and relief operations in Sikkim. The efforts have culminated in the hiring of a VT-OSC 5-seater twin-engine helicopter.
Navigating the challenging terrain of the Himalayas during unpredictable and inclement weather conditions demands not only the right equipment but also a select few licensed and experienced pilots. The endeavor received approval from the Government of Sikkim, with all necessary permissions granted.
The helicopter touched down at Burtuk Helipad in Gangtok at precisely 17:20 pm on October 6.
Starting from October 7 morning, the helicopter is expected to take to the skies to execute crucial rescue, evacuation, and relief missions, bolstering the region's capacity to respond effectively to the ongoing crisis.
