Guwahati: Trinamool Congress leader and popular actor Saayoni Ghosh has been arrested by the Tripura Police on charges of criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity between people.
She was arrested based on an FIR filed by the East Agartala Police team where it was alleged that she had been involved in disturbing a poll rally of the Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
As per the police, Saayoni was first summoned, and then based on evidence where the police had found her involvement in the case, she was arrested. She has been slapped with Sections 153, 153A, 307, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
She was also charged with an "attempt to murder" but the police did not clarify why the charges were issued.
As per reports, along with Saayoni, three more people were in the car, and the police are now taking steps to arrest the others as well.
Saayoni had allegedly sloganed "Khela hobe" near the rally site which had triggered the FIR.
