Ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s growing support base across the state, including among tribal communities.
Congratulating the 28 BJP candidates announced for the upcoming TTAADC polls, Saha stated that the party’s campaign is anchored in what he described as widespread public trust in Modi’s leadership. He emphasized that this trust has transcended traditional political boundaries and is now resonating deeply within tribal populations in Tripura.
The Chief Minister also launched a pointed critique of past political approaches toward indigenous communities, alleging that tribal populations had long been “reduced to mere ballot boxes” by previous regimes. Positioning the BJP as a departure from that legacy, Saha argued that the party is committed to delivering tangible development outcomes in tribal areas.
“Asserting that if tribal communities genuinely seek development, only the Prime Minister and the BJP can deliver it,” Saha projected a decisive mandate in favour of the party. He expressed optimism that the BJP would secure victory across all 28 seats and form the government in the TTAADC, marking a major political milestone in the region.
The TTAADC elections are being closely watched as a key test of the BJP’s influence in tribal-dominated regions of the Northeast, where regional dynamics and identity politics have historically played a decisive role. A strong performance in the council polls would further consolidate the BJP’s footprint in Tripura and reinforce its broader electoral strategy in the region.
