Grief continues to surround the death of Anjel Chakma, a student from Tripura who was studying in Dehradun, as his roommate Rahul described him as a soft-spoken and kind person whose life was cut short just as he was beginning to look ahead with hope.
Speaking about their time together, Rahul said Anjel never had conflicts with anyone and was known among friends for his calm and gentle nature. “He had a soft nature and never fought with anyone,” Rahul said, struggling to come to terms with the loss.
According to him, Anjel had been particularly happy in recent days after securing a job, a milestone he had shared with close friends. “He was very happy because he recently got a job. We are all very shocked by what happened,” Rahul said.
Recalling the moments after Anjel was hospitalised, Rahul said friends stood by him through his final hours. “We were with him when he was in the hospital and took care of him, but we unfortunately lost him,” he added.
Anjel Chakma’s death has triggered widespread anguish among students and raised serious questions about safety and accountability. As friends and family mourn a life described as gentle and full of promise, calls continue to grow for clarity and justice in the circumstances surrounding his death.
