The Director General of the Peru-based International Potato Center (CIP), Simon Heck, visited Tripura on Friday to explore avenues of collaboration in the state’s growing potato sector.
Speaking to the media during his visit, Heck praised Tripura’s achievements in potato cultivation, describing it as a state with a “successful industry that embraces innovation and research.”
“We are here to engage with the State Government, research institutions, the horticulture department, and farmers to understand the progress made so far and to identify opportunities for future collaboration,” Heck stated. He further highlighted the commitment of Tripura’s officials towards agricultural development, adding that the International Potato Center is committed to extending its expertise and research support.
“We are very impressed by the dedication of the state’s officials. As an international research institution, we pledge our support to help Tripura achieve its goals in the potato sector,” he assured.
The visit is expected to open new pathways for international partnerships in research, innovation, and sustainable potato cultivation in Tripura.
