A personnel of the Tripura Border Security Force (BSF) sustained bullet injuries after he allegedly attempted to take his own life at Maharani, in Tripura’s Gomati district on April 21.
Confirming the incident, Tripura Police sources told India Today NE that the jawan, identified as Mani Kundan S (24), a resident of Tamil Nadu, was posted at the Amrit Para Border Outpost.
“He reportedly shot himself in the left side of his chest with his service rifle. He was initially taken to Natunbazar Hospital and later referred to Gomati District Hospital. Following preliminary treatment, doctors there referred him to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala,” said a police official.
A duty doctor at Gomati District Hospital added, “The BSF jawan was brought to us after he shot himself in the chest with his service rifle. After an initial check-up, we referred him to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment. His condition is critical.”
