Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, on August 20, said that at a time when unrest and politics of division are spreading across the nation, the Congress will continue to follow the path shown by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and work to restore peace and harmony in the country.
PCC president Saha made the remarks after paying floral tributes at Gandhi Ghaat in Agartala on the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He said that the party draws inspiration from Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of peace, harmony, and solidarity.
“Rajiv Gandhi was a leader of the people who dreamt of building a modern India. He worked tirelessly for youth empowerment, women’s reservation, technological progress, and educational reforms such as the establishment of Navodaya Schools. His commitment to unity and social justice continues to inspire us,” Saha said.
He added that Congress will continue to follow the path shown by the late Prime Minister and work to restore peace and harmony in the country.
“At a time when unrest and politics of division are spreading across the nation, Rajiv Gandhi’s message of unity is more relevant than ever. People remember him for his noble works, and Congress is determined to bring back the spirit of peace, solidarity, and brotherhood that he stood for,” the state Congress chief emphasised.
Across the country, the Indian National Congress marked the day with Sadbhavna Diwas programmes, underscoring the party’s commitment to communal harmony and inclusive development.
“Today is the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi—his 81st. Across the country, the Indian National Congress is observing this day as Sadbhavna Diwas. From Tripura Congress too, we are observing this day through various programmes at district and block levels,” he added.
