The Tripura police detained 10 Rohingya nationals, including four children, who were hiding in a house to cross the India-Bangladesh border illegally in the Safarkandi area of Tripura’s Unakoti district.
Speaking to reporters, Second Officer of Irani Police Station, Taruni Jamatia, stated that information was received indicating that six Rohingya nationals had arrived from Hyderabad on January 16 and were hiding in a house.
“Accordingly, officers rushed to the spot and detained six women and four children. We brought them to the police station and registered a case against them. They came from Hyderabad and were waiting for the perfect time to cross the border. We also detained one refugee ID card. The house owner was absconding, and we have registered a case against him as well,” he added.
