In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested three individuals and seized 1.06 lakh yaba tablets worth over Rs 5 crore from the Maheskhala area of Agartala city in the early hours of Thursday.
West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar informed that based on specific intelligence, a raid was conducted at the residence of Md Babul Miah (45), where a significant cache of contraband was recovered.
"During the operation, we seized 1.06 lakh yaba tablets with a market value of ₹5 crore. Along with Babul Miah, we arrested two other individuals, identified as Sanjay Miah (42) and Sipan Hossein (26). We have also confiscated multiple mobile phones and motorcycles linked to the operation. A special case has been registered, and the accused will be produced before the court," Kumar stated.

The police have intensified their anti-narcotics operations in Agartala, registering 10 cases and arresting 21 individuals in the past eight days. During these operations, authorities have seized 369 kg of cannabis, 2,017 bottles of cough syrup, 66 grams of heroin, and 1.06 lakh yaba tablets.
The latest seizure underscores the state's ongoing battle against narcotics and the Tripura Police's commitment to curbing drug trafficking networks in the region.
