Itanagar, April 1, 2020:

Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering demands that the "Government of India must put up a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against China" due to coronavirus.

Ering has expressed his concerns over China's efforts to claim parts of Arunachal Pradesh and terms the coronavirus as a "bio war". "Reliable media reports suggest that China has unleashed a bio-warfare program of Wuhan, Corona Virus and put world peace and security at the greatest threat. The whole of the world is under lockdown now and it has crumbled the global economies including our country. Therefore, the Government of India must put up a case in the International forums like ICJ against China for bio war and ask for compensation to the tune of 22 Billion USD," stated Ering in his letter to the External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

He suggested that India must unite with other nations on the China front and "also demand an international investigation on Wuhan Corona Virus in China so that our future generations are safe from any such incidents."

"I sincerely urge you to take up the above-mentioned issues at international forums and stand up to the hopes and aspirations of our population. It will truly help us to reclaim "Suraksha" (regional and global security) and safety of our citizens especially residing in Arunachal Pradesh," Ering reiterated.

It may be mentioned here that Arunachal Pradesh, the country's easternmost State, shares its international boundary with China and according to the Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering and several media reports, there have been instances time and agin when China had tried to enter the territory, claiming it to be part of its southern part.

"The issue of China providing stapled visas to people from our Arunachal Pradesh is not new and China even objects to visits by Hon’ble PM, Home Minister and Defense Minister to Arunachal Pradesh," said Ninong Ering.

He also stated that in 2018, the holy Siang river which is the lifeline of our state turned black due to ill-intent projects like dams & tunnels and diversion of waters of Brahmaputra river by the Chinese authorities.

It needs mention here that recently, on February 20, 2020, Arunachal Pradesh's 34th Statehood Day, China vehemently opposed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrival and participation.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman, China, Geng Shuang had said, “China’s position on the eastern sector of the China-India boundary, or the southern part of China’s Tibet region, is consistent and clear.”

He further said that China had never recognized the Indian state and instead considered it as its southern part of Tibet region. The neighboring country felt violated. “The Chinese government has never recognized the so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ and is firmly opposed to the Shah’s visit to the southern part of China’s Tibet region as it violated China’s territorial sovereignty, undermined the stability of the border area, sabotaged political mutual trust, and violated relevant bilateral agreement,” he had expressed.

With Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Beijing had urged the Government of India to refrain from taking any action to complicate the already existing border issue.
