ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh became the first coronavirus-free state in the Northeast with three active cases recovering from the disease on Sunday.
No fresh case has been recorded in the last nine days.

Chief minister Pema Khandu expressed his happiness and tweeted: “Very happy to inform that active covid cases in Arunachal has become zero today. Proud of Team Arunachal and all citizens, CBOs and others who worked tirelessly. But let’s not lower our guards and continue to be vigilant.”

The total caseload in the north eastern state remained at 16,836, while the number of recoveries stood at 16,780. A total of 56 patients have succumbed to the disease.
