ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 44,222 on Thursday as 418 more people tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the northeastern state's coronavirus death toll to 204, a senior health official said.
The Capital Complex region registered the highest number of new cases at 111, followed by Lower Subansiri (31), Papumpare and Upper Subansiri (29 each), State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
An 80-year-old man from Siang district died at a Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district, he said.
The state now has 4,384 active cases, while 39,634 people have recovered from the disease to date, including 365 in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state stands at 89.62 per cent.
The Capital Complex region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 1,113, followed by Lohit (326) and West Kameng (301).
The state has thus far tested over 8.7 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 6,116 on Wednesday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate stands at 6.83 per cent.
Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung said that over 8 lakh people have been inoculated so far.
