Guwahati, February 25, 2019:

Senior Congress leaders Takam Sanjoy (President, Arunachal PCC), Luizinho Faleiro (AICC GS, Northeast in charge, former Goa Chief Minister) and Nabam Tuki (former Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh) have released a joint statement directed at Home Minister Rajnath Singh in view of the protests which have rocked the state of Arunachal Pradesh after the Government announced its decision to grant PRC status to non-APSTs.

In the letter, they have made two demands to the Central Government. Firstly, they have demanded “constitution of a commission of inquiry on firing and killing of innocent and unarmed protestors; headed preferably by a sitting judge of the High Court or Retired Chief Justice of the High Court.”

Secondly, the leaders have demanded the immediate sacking of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Kiren Rijiju, Union Mos Home Affairs and Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

“Such incidents, if allowed to continue unabated, will threaten the very foundations of Arunachal Pradesh. We hope that in understanding this, you will consider our demands and implement them at the earliest”, they added.
