Arunachal: 50 families supporting Congress and NPP joins BJP in Doimukh

More than 50 families from Congress and NPP have joined the BJP during a mass joining program held at the border town of Pichola in the Banderdewa circle. Led by Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara, this move comes as a ray of hope for resolving the persistent boundary dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Pichola town, nestled on the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh near Tarajuli, falls within the Banderdewa circle of the 14th Doimukh constituency. With over 600 voters, the town has witnessed boundary disputes in the past, prompting several families to switch allegiance to the BJP in anticipation of a permanent solution.

Speaking to India Today, BJP MLA candidate Tana Hali Tara expressed confidence that the border dispute would be completely resolved after the elections. He highlighted his tireless efforts over the past 5 years, including extensive discussions with MLAs from neighboring constituencies in Assam, spanning from Biswanath Chariali to Gogamukh.

The MLA further added, “to resolve border disputes I have worked tirelessly for the last 5 years & even walked on foot from the last village Radhasow to Biswanath Chariali. Our neighboring constituencies in Assam have 7 Mlas from Biswanath Chariali to Gogamukh & I have discussed & met those Mlas several times to bring an amicable solution to resolve the dispute. Namsai declaration will be implemented accordingly & we will not spare any inch of land.”

Tara emphasized the implementation of the Namsai declaration and reassured that no inch of land would be relinquished. He dismissed opposition claims of exploiting the issue for political gain, affirming the commitment of the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, under the direction of Union Minister Amit Shah, to resolve all disputes comprehensively.

The decision to campaign for Tara by the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister in Holongi is seen as a crucial endorsement, dispelling rumors suggesting otherwise.

Yurum Yowa a native of Pichola informed that several families now joined BJP in favor of Tana Hali Tara as now confusion is clear after bjp ticket bagged in favor of present Mla Tana Hali Tara in Pichola Tanihappa polling station which comprises of 600 voters. “Everyone needs ruling government as development slows down while staying in opposition which is the main reason of such joining into BJP”, he said to India Today.
