Arunachal Assembly marks golden jubilee with ‘unity aquarium’ installation

The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly celebrated its Golden Jubilee with a special session on Monday, marked by the inauguration of the symbolic “Unity Aquarium” at the Assembly premises.

The installation, unveiled by Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Tesam Pongte, Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, and other dignitaries, was built using stones collected from the State’s five major rivers—Tirap, Lohit, Siang, Subansiri, and Kameng—symbolising unity in diversity.

On the occasion, the Governor also unveiled the Golden Jubilee Commemorative Pillar within the Assembly complex, underscoring the institution’s historic journey over the past five decades as the “temple of democracy” in the State.

Ministers, MLAs, and chairmen present at the event extended their wishes to the Legislative Assembly, describing it as a beacon of democracy that continues to uphold constitutional values while embracing Arunachal’s unique cultural and geographical diversity.
