Arunachal Governor celebrates birthday with Oju mission students, urges values-driven learning

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), PVSM, UYSM, YSM, celebrated his 72nd birthday in a heartwarming manner—among the children of Oju Mission School at Papu Nallah, Naharlagun.

Accompanied by the First Lady of the State, Anagha Parnaik, the Governor made his maiden visit to the school, run by the Oju Welfare Association (OWA), which has long been a pillar of inclusive education and social upliftment in the region.

During their visit, the Governor and the First Lady toured the newly constructed academic block, inspected the smart classrooms, viewed students’ innovative projects, and admired a photo gallery highlighting the OWA’s remarkable journey in the fields of social service and education.

The Governor’s birthday was celebrated with enthusiasm and affection, as the children and staff presented vibrant cultural performances, filling the campus with joy and festive spirit. Deeply touched by the warm reception and the children’s talent and discipline, the Governor applauded their efforts and urged them to nurture their curiosity, values, and love for learning.

“Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is about shaping your character and discovering your true potential,” Governor Parnaik told the students, referring to them as ‘The Shining Stars’ of Arunachal Pradesh.

He encouraged the children to set high goals, stay focused, and not fear failure, adding that every setback is an opportunity for growth. He also emphasised that integrity, hard work, and service to others are essential qualities of responsible citizenship.

Drawing from his military background, the Governor invoked the National Defence Academy’s core principle: “Physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.” He urged the students to adopt this mantra in their lives, saying that true strength lies in a balanced combination of physical fitness, a sharp mind, and a kind heart.

To commemorate the day, the Governor and the First Lady also took part in a tree plantation programme under the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ within the school campus, promoting environmental responsibility and honoring the values of love and care for one’s mother.

Oju Mission School, known for providing quality, value-based education to underprivileged children, continues to serve as a beacon of hope and transformation. The Governor’s visit not only inspired the young learners but also reinforced the state's commitment to inclusive and holistic education.
