Arunachal: Union minister visits Kra Daadi, reviews key welfare schemes

Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Annapurna Devi, undertook a significant visit to Kra Daadi District, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the empowerment of women and children in the region.

Her itinerary included multiple public welfare engagements and a high-level review of key Government of India schemes.

The visit began at the New Age Learning Centre (NALC), housed within the premises of Byabang Heri Government Higher Secondary School, Palin. The Union Minister was accompanied by state officials and local leaders during her tour of the learning centre, followed by a tree plantation drive, symbolizing the Centre's focus on environmental sustainability alongside education.

Annapurna Devi also visited the health, Women & Child Development (WCD), and Self Help Group (SHG) exhibition stalls at the General Ground, Palin, where she interacted with local beneficiaries and encouraged community-led development initiatives.

A special highlight of the day was her participation in the Poshan Pakhwada celebration at Nyokum Hall, Palin, which showcased the progress made under India’s flagship nutrition initiative aimed at maternal and child health.

Her visit continued at the District Hospital, Palin, where she took stock of healthcare services being delivered on the ground and interacted with medical staff to understand operational challenges.

Later in the day, the Union Minister chaired a review meeting on various Government of India schemes and the Aspirational Block Programme, held at the Panchayat Conference Hall, Palin. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, heads of departments (HoDs), and senior district officials.

During the review, Annapurna Devi held productive discussions with officials from the Department of Women & Child Development, focusing on the implementation status of key national initiatives such as Poshan Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and schemes under the Mission Shakti framework.

She appreciated the dedication of the district administration and urged for greater convergence, real-time monitoring, and community outreach to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every household.

“We are committed to ensuring that every woman and child in Arunachal Pradesh is empowered, educated, and nurtured. The Centre will continue to work closely with the State to address gaps and strengthen last-mile delivery,” said the Minister.

The visit marks a significant step in bridging policy with grassroots action in one of India’s most remote yet vibrant districts.
