The flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh showed signs of improvement on Tuesday, with water levels of most rivers gradually receding.
However, the disaster continues to impact over 33,000 people across 24 districts, while several rivers in the Itanagar Capital Region and Papum Pare district remain above danger levels.
Residents living near riverbanks in the capital complex, including Itanagar, Naharlagun, and Nirjuli, have been urged to move to safer locations as a precaution. District authorities remain on high alert, closely monitoring water levels and vulnerable zones.

Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Itanagar Capital Region, Toko Babu, urged citizens to strictly follow the advisories issued by the district administration. “We have identified multiple relief camps within the capital region which will be activated immediately in case of an emergency,” he said, emphasising readiness to ensure public safety.
Techi Kaso, MLA of the Capital Region, also appealed to residents to exercise extra caution during the ongoing monsoon season. “Avoid travelling during heavy downpours, especially in landslide-prone areas. Any negligence can lead to untoward incidents,” he warned.
While the overall flood situation shows signs of easing, authorities continue to assess the damage and prepare for possible emergencies, especially with more rain forecast in the coming days.
