The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed former Pasighat (East) MLA Kaling Moyong as the new state president of the Arunachal Pradesh unit. The announcement was made on January 18 following deliberations among the party's senior leadership.

The decision to appoint Moyong was finalized after a series of high-level meetings in Itanagar and Delhi. Prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Assam Minister Ashok Singhal, played key roles in the discussions.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who also served as Assam's former chief minister, was tasked by the party high command to act as the returning officer overseeing the election and selection process. Ashok Singhal, BJP's Arunachal Pradesh in-charge, also supervised the transition.
