Traffic disrupted on trans-Arunachal highway in Keyi Panyor district due to mudslide

Vehicular traffic movement along the crucial Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) between Hoj and Potin in Keyi Panyor District was severely disrupted following a major landslide triggered by heavy overnight rainfall.

The incident occurred near the Welcome Gate of the district around 2:30 AM, when huge boulders and mud cascading from the hillside completely blocked the stretch of the highway.

The sudden roadblock left hundreds of passengers, including locals, commuters, and those travelling from distant places, stranded for several hours.

The road remained inaccessible for most of the morning, with commercial vehicles and private transport piled up along the route. Stranded passengers reported considerable delays and inconvenience due to the prolonged halt in movement.

Responding swiftly, the district administration mobilised manpower and deployed heavy machinery to clear the debris and restore connectivity. After several hours of continuous effort, the obstruction was removed and traffic movement was resumed by late morning.

Officials have urged travellers to remain cautious while navigating the hilly routes, especially during the monsoon season, and assured that monitoring and maintenance efforts are ongoing to ensure public safety.
