Tinsukia, October 26, 2019:

As many as six United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA- I) cadre surrendered in Tinsukia District of Assam on Friday.

A joint search operation was launched by Tinsukia district police and Security Forces on receiving inputs of the presence of United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA- I) cadre in areas of in Margherita.

The team led by Tinsukia Police inclusive of 210 Cobra bn, 68 Bn CrPF with 9 Rajrif and 21 PARA SF.

As many as four ULFA- I cadre came up to lay down their arms and surrender.

The surrendered cadres have been identified as self- styled- Second LT Pabitro Asom alias Phamen Moran of Kakopathar, Corporal Aluk Asom alias Mintu Moran of Kakopathar, Lance corporal Merchant Asom alias Pranjit Moran Baghjan and Lance corporal Abon Asom alias Rajib Moran of Dum Duma.

The team recovered and seized following arms from their possession- four AK series Rifles (two MQ 81 and two AK 56), 275 Live rounds cartridges, 9 Magazine and one hand- grenade

After the initial interrogation of the cadres, another joint search operation was launched led by Tinsukia police (inclusive of 210 Cobra, 68 Bn Crpf ) with 3 Garhwal and 21 PARA SF.

Following this, two more ULFA- I cadres came up to surrender from the Tekri Mangaon area under Pengree PS.

The surrendered cadres have been identified as Corporal Sonjuk Asom alias Milan Jyoti Mohanto of Barekuri and Lance Corporal Puron Asom alias Kolyan Boruah of Makum.

The team recovered two AK series assault rifles (2 MQ 81),120 Live rounds cartridges, 4 Magazine, and a Hand grenade
