GUWAHATI: Assam BJP leader Pijush Hazarika on Saturday stated that Raijor Dol president Akhil Gogoi might contest from Teok constituency instead of Sibasagar in the next polls.
Interacting with media, Hazarika said, "If it is at all true, then I guess Gogoi has understood within 5 months that he is not going to get votes from the people of Sibasagar next year as well."
"In the last 5 months, I have heard people of Sibasagar saying they are regretting their decision of voting Gogoi", added Hazarika.
He went on to say that perhaps Gogoi heard the rumours and 'as he is a shrewd person so he might have taken the decision to switch his constituency'.
Taking a Jibe at the Dharjya Konwar, candidate from Rajor Dol contesting for Thorwa, Hazarika said, "People here don't know him. He stays in Guwahati he doesn't even pay a visit during flood. Even during the time of elephant menace, he was nowhere to be seen."
He said that he was present during the last meeting of voting booth where he asked if people know konwar personally.
"About 40 per cent of the people said no. The person is not recognised by the people of his own village, what good he would do for his constituency", said Hazarika.
"Therefore, I am sure that their 'skill of giving fake assurances and promises' will be busted by the people of Thowra and we will emerge victorious", he further added.
