GUWAHATI: All educational institutions in Assam will remain closed indefinitely today, this was informed by the state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
The Assam government took the decision at a time stating the COVID-19 situation in the districts of the state as Assam had reported the highest COVID-19 fatality rate in a single day in the past 24 hours.
Assam recorded 41 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,430.

On the other hand, 4,475 more people tested positive for COVID-19 during the period, pushing the tally to 2,67,925.
Meanwhile, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) yesterday released an updated and consolidated directive on the COVID-19 pandemic, superseding earlier orders issued on April 30, 2021.
