Assam: Anganwadi worker dies in Lakhimpur after taking COVID-19 vaccine

LAKHIMPUR: An Anganwadi worker in Lakhimpur died after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

 

The deceased has been identified as Deepa Gautam, a resident of Checha Rajgarh, Narayanpur, in Lakhimpur.

 

Deepa fell ill within 24 hours after receiving the vaccine at the Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital on February 8.

Deepa was later treated at the Tezpur Mission Hospital, though she could not survive and breathed her last today.

However, the doctors informed her family that she has died due to kidney and liver failure.

 

The news of the death of a fit, healthy woman sparked tension among the family members and the locals of the village.

 

The villagers and her family suspected that Deepa died due to the side effects of the vaccine.
