With 10 fresh cases reported in Assam, the state tally has gone up to 329 on May 23, 2020. Of the 10 cases, four from Morigaon, two from Nalbari, one each from Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat and Jorhat.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted:

With these cases, Assam registered a total of 70 cases on May 23, 2020, alone.

Earlier the day, 60 cases were reported in the state. Out of the 60 cases, 44 were in Sarusajai Quarantine Centre while seven from Dima Hasao district and two from Cachar district in Assam. On the other hand, six cases were reported in Hojai and were in quarantine at Sarusajai quarantine centre while one is in Dhubri.

Of the 329 cases, there are 54 recovered cases and 268 active cases. The total number of the death toll is four and so far three cases have been migrated.

On May 22, 2020, the state witnessed a massive spike in positive coronavirus cases with 49 new cases reported. On yesterday evening, 26 people quarantined at Sarusajai Quarantine Centre were tested positive for the virus.

Assam has reported 23 cases on May 21, 2020 taking the total over 200. The state has registered its second 100 cases in just four days while there were just 100 cases on May 17, 2020. Most of the cases have a travel history.

The novel coronavirus has infected a total of 1.3 lakh people and claimed over 3,500 lives as on May 22, 2020, morning, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross a thousand deaths. It has recorded 41,642 corona cases with 11,726 cured and 1454 deaths. The western state is followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Gujarat has corona 12,905 cases with 5488 cured and 773 deaths. Tamil Nadu has crossed 13,967 cases with 6282 cured and 94 deaths. The National Capital with 11,659  COVID-19 cases has crossed the 10 thousand mark on May 18th, 2020. So far, 5567 have been cured in Delhi with 194 deaths.

India has surpassed the China’s official figure of 82,933 confirmed coronavirus cases. India is the 11th most cases in the world. So far, the USA has the highest number of covid19 cases at 1,592,723.
